“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”John 3:16
I learned this verse as a young child, but it wasn’t until my teenage years I fully understood I could have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ BECAUSE of what he did on the cross!
You too can KNOW the answer to the most important question of your life…where will you spend eternity?
YOU MUST ACCEPT THAT YOU ARE A SINNER
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
“As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.”Romans 3:23, 3:10
No one is perfect. No one has lived up to God’s perfect standard.
YOU MUST ACCEPT THAT AS A SINNER YOU OWE A PENALTY
“For the wages of sin is death…”
“And Death and hell were cast into the lake of fire…”ROMANS 6:23, Revelation 20:14
If we pay what we owe as sinners, we must spend an eternity in the lake of fire.
YOU MUST ACCEPT THAT JESUS CHRIST ALREADY PAID OUR SIN DEBT
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8
God’s love is amazing. And what makes it amazing is the fact that you and I don’t deserve it! Because God loves us, He sent His Son into the world to live a perfect, sinless life, die on a cross for the sins of all mankind, and rise again three days later so He could offer us the free gift of eternal life.
YOU MUST ACCEPT BY FAITH WHAT JESUS CHRIST DID FOR YOU
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”Romans 10:9
The word “believe” means to trust, to depend on, to rely on. To believe on the Lord Jesus means that you accept the fact that you are a sinner, that as a sinner you owe the sin penalty, and that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the debt you owe. But it also means that you will completely trust Christ to get you to Heaven – that you will put the matter of your salvation in His hands, and depend on Him for everlasting life.
The question now is: will you receive it or reject it?
